MINIMALIST FOR CLIMBERS

Lightweight, minimalistic and sustainable climbing backpack for alpine tours

Highlights

  • Lightweight: 24l at just 570g – heavy in technology, light in weight
  • Streamlined: Full focus upon alpine function
  • Sustainable: Recycled polyamide, PFC-free and climate-neutral

Lightweight and minimalistic on alpine climbing tours: The TRAD ZERO brings no unnecessary weight or distracting features to the rock face!

Instead of a lid compartment, the TRAD ZERO 18 has a light, versatile lid flap that protects the backpack’s contents and also functions as a helmet- and rope-attachment. A silicone coating on the inside provides extra grip and keeps everything in the right place.

At just 570 grams, the alpine climbing backpack is a real lightweight and yet also scuff-resistant and long-lasting for harsh rock climbs – as is the whole TRAD line. This is thanks to robust 420 D Ripstop, which is made of 88% recycled polyamide.

Despite its minimalism, important details such as material loops, rope fastening options and a fastening for a hydration system are still included. Cushioned shoulder straps and a soft contact back ensure optimum comfort even when carrying angular climbing equipment. The lockable valuables compartment with key clip provides a safe space for important items.

The TRAD ZERO is a reliable companion for long and demanding alpine tours where every gram matters.

S.g Damen und Herren, Ich habe mir den Trad Zero 18 gekauft. Leider ist die Öffnung, um eine Trinkblase hinein zu geben, zu klein und somit unbrauchbar. Schade! Weiters wären noch 2 Materialschlaufen ideal. Kann eine Nachrüstung durch Sie durchgeführt werden. Sg Ladies and Gentlemen, I bought the Trad Zero 18. Unfortunately, the opening to put a hydration bladder in is too small and therefore unusable. A pity! Furthermore, 2 material loops would be ideal. Can a retrofit be carried out by you?

Servus Eva, unfortunately the Trade Zero 18 does not have a compartment for a hydration bladder. However, there is a passage for the hose, which according to our production department should fit all common mouthpieces. There is also the option of hanging up the hydration bladder in the interior.

I find the Trad Zero 18 to be the perfect "peak pack", "attack pack", or whatever you want to call the pack that you bring to the base of your multi-pitch crag inside a larger pack, then use for carrying a warm layer, a small first aid kit, headlamp, warm layer, and wind/weather shell. I use it for both summer rock and winter ice climbing. With it's 88% recycled material 420 D Ripstop exterior, it's lasted for several season's of both. While you might find it a little too big for warm-weather multi-pitch rock needs, it's the perfect size for winter ice, with room for a down belay jacket, a pair of belay gloves, safety essentials, food, and water. The one zippered side pocket is useful for keeping a little first aid supplies and my Garmin Mini InReach. Also, since I find having my ice threading tool to be kind of messy on my harness, it fits well in the zippered area. I also find the Trad Zero 18 to be a great size for longer cool-weather rail runs--with enough room for an added warmth layer, a shell, light gloves, food, and water. I'm an Ortovox Athlete, so you might be a bit circumspect about my review, but I can tell you that this is a piece that I truly believe in and a product that I use daily, with confidence and with enjoyment, in the field. Check it out.
