ALPINE MINIMALISM: OUR LIGHTWEIGHT FOR ALPINISTS

Robust, wind and waterproof hardshell pants for alpine activities

Highlights

  • Extra light and yet robust
  • Wind- and waterproof
  • Breathable with additional ventilation zippers

Whether on stormy ascents or in heavy snowfall on a summit – the 3L ORTLER PANTS for women is our lightweight for true alpinists!

For the MERINO NAKED SHEEP line we’ve concentrated on the essentials: Low weight, optimum protection and ample comfort. These hardshell pants are lightweight and technically sophisticated, yet robust and comfortable. The DERMIZAX® NX membrane from Toray – the most high-performance membrane that we use – ensures the jacket is windproof, waterproof and breathable. For protection on demanding tours, these shorts feature integrated, adjustable gaiters and Cordura protection against sharp edges. Adjustable ankle cuffs and an adjustable waistband allow for an easy fit, while merino-mix inserts in the waistband area provide comfort. Thanks to full-length 2-way side zippers, these 3-layer pants can be quickly put on or taken off.

I wore them for Chimborazo Volcano 6263 meters (20547.9 feet). I was never cold, and they are so stretchy and comfy. I can't imagine a better purchase. I have other Ortovox products, so I gave this one an opportunity, and once again I am not disappointed. I wore them for Chimborazo Volcano 6263 meters (20547.9 feet). I love everything about these pants! The fit is great (I did size-up to a large to accommodate being out for fun or for work in extreme cold). The material is supple and quiet, so you don't hear the constant "swishing" between steps. I love the full side zips and how the ankle gaiter opens to make putting on / taking off boots super easy. The large thigh pocket can either be used for your beacon because it has a lanyard, or for your phone so you have adequate separation between your avalanche transceiver and electronics. The waist cinch on either side is simple and effective, negating the need for a belt or for suspenders. I love everything about these pants! I got these trousers for mountaineering and ski touring. I have to say, they're mostly advertised for ski touring, but unfortunately I find them better for normal mountaineering in the autumn or generally bad weather. The trousers fit very well, the fit is great, I'm actually(?!) happy with them. Now I'm always torn about what I should wear down there, especially when I'm up at 3000 metres - it's just too cold for me. Otherwise I really like wearing them, they're water-repellent, I don't get any wind, the only problem, as I said, starts at sub-zero temperatures (even with merino underwear it's too cold, especially when it gets below minus five). In any case, I would buy them again, but then more for ski touring in less cold temperatures.
