THE TOUR SPECIALIST: LIGHTWEIGHT, VERSATILE, ELECTRONIC

Electronic LiTRIC avalanche backpack for ski touring

Highlights

  • AVABAG LiTRIC airbag system: electronic, lightweight and reliable
  • Back and features specially tailored to touring
  • Versatile: compatible with all AVABAG LiTRIC FREERIDE and TOUR Zip attachments

Versatile and lightweight: The AVABAG LiTRIC TOUR 40 is a ski touring backpack with a LiTRIC avalanche airbag system. From quick after-work sessions to multi-day tours: Just one BASE can be used to attach various sizes of AVABAG LiTRIC TOUR and FREERIDE Zip attachments, each tailored to their intended use. The Zip is designed in such a way that, when combined, the base and the various packs merge to form a single unit.

The BASE comprises a back element and airbag system and sits comfortably thanks to the FULL CONTACT LIGHT back system. The stowaway bag can be completely opened up thanks to its circumferential zipper and is equipped with all of the features you need on a tour: Ski, splitboard, and rope attachments, an ice axe holder and small map compartment leave nothing to be desired. Emergency equipment can be stowed in a separate safety compartment. We have used particularly lightweight but scuff-resistant materials to keep weight down to a minimum.

LiTRIC, the electronic airbag system, is lightweight, reliable and easy to use. The electronic system can be fully charged in approx. 25 minutes via USB-C and activation can be tested any number of times at no additional cost. The lack of a cartridge means: more space, no weighing necessary, no cartridge disposal, no travel limitations. The design is clever down to the smallest detail, supercapacitors are used instead of cartridges and the airbag is ultra-lightweight – making the system one of the lightest on the market. And the system is especially easy to use. From charging and the LED display, to the activation handle, to airbag packing and the leg loop: LiTRIC AVABAGS are absolutely intuitive to operate. One charge enables at least two activations. When switched ON its operation time is approx. 60 hours, which allows for multi-day tours with no need for recharging. Its operating temperature ranges from -30°C to +45°C.

All products in the AVABAG LiTRIC TOUR line are climate-neutral and PFC-free.

Registering the system on https://www.ortovox.com/service-hub will extend its warranty from two to five years.

Ausgezeichneter Rucksack. I saved about 0.5 kg compared to my old cartridge backpack and the fit is great. The only thing I don't understand is how to attach the rope and snowboard attachments. I haven't found any photos/videos of this either. Perhaps the Ortovox team can provide a little help here :)

Best Avabag ever! I work as a full time mountain guide which finds me mostly backcountry ski guiding in the winters in Utah. I have been riding with the original canister avabag since it came out and I am so stoked on the new Litric system. Yes, it's light. Yes, it's compact. Yes, the pack carries better and is more comfortable. But the things that really have be excited are the little things.... * Mechanical closure of the balloon compartment! This is huge, no more having the burst zipper open when you don't want it to * Stuff-able balloon. Folding up the balloon in the backcountry was not easy. This makes testing or demonstrating the pack to avalanche students so much easier, not having to fold the balloon back into the compartment * Easy plastic buckle and crotch strap carabiner. I had a climbing rated carabiner on the strap of my old pack, this one is lighter, plenty strong and easier to use with gloves on. I love that it has a place to clip it and I don't ever have to fiddle with a metal belt buckle again. * New deployment handle. This thing is amazing. I am really tall 6'7" (200cm) and so having the adjustability of the trigger position is huge. Not having to zip the trigger into a pocket for the safety is also so nice. This pack is amazing, its easy, light and functional and I know from my previous Avabag that I used for 6 seasons, that it will last a very long time. Best Avabag ever! First things first: I have never used the airbag :-) After about 10 tours, I can say that + wears well + looks good + the release handle can be adjusted in height - the position of the loop for the rope holder is unfavorable : With the rope fixed, the backpack can no longer be opened completely - material is fairly permeable to water: After a tour with 4 hours of snowfall, the change of shirt in the backpack was unfortunately wet. Even if the backpack sits in the snow for a few minutes, it gets damp inside. - What I miss a bit, but can arrange for, is a glasses compartment
