The German Alpine Club (DAV) alone has 1.4 million members – who between them cover around 13 billion kilometers on their drive to the mountains. Per season. With that distance, we could travel to the sun and back quite a few times. 43 times, to be exact.

Those are crazy numbers! But numbers also show how huge our potential to make a difference is. We as a brand, we as a mountain sports community, we as individuals. We can do so much good! It’s not about being perfect. It’s about making a start. In this chapter we will show you where we can be effective – and how rethinking travel can be a benefit rather than a sacrifice.
