MORE FUNCTIONALITY FOR SKI TOURERS

Lightweight, water-resistant insulating vest with SWISSWOOL for ski tours

The next chapter in our SWISSWOOL story! For the SWISSWOOL LIGHT TEC line, we have developed technical products that are low in weight and high in comfort for demanding ski tours.

The 60 g/m² SWISSWOOL lining and robust nylon ripstop shell of the SWISSWOOL PIZ BOÈ VEST makes it ideal for ski tourers who know that less is more: less weight, less volume, but more performance. To underscore the “high-tech” aspect of this ski touring vest for men, we use our new elastic MERINO NATURETEC LIGHT material in specific areas of the back – exactly where breathability is needed most.

The tight-fitting, elastic hood and elastic waistband keep the wind and cold at bay on freezing summits. The two front pockets and the breast pocket  are positioned for optimum access even when wearing a backpack or harness, and can even accommodate larger objects. What’s more, the PIZ BOÈ VEST for men has an athletic cut: The lightweight insulating vest thus follows your movements on ski tours and fits perfectly under a 3L hardshell jacket.

Material
SWISSWOOL
Born out of a pioneering spirit and shaped by our innovative strength, ORTOVOX introduced the first SWISSWOOL products in 2011 – and simultaneously created a new segment of insulating wool products! Wool offers excellent thermal properties and optimum climate comfort. In addition to high functionality, SWISSWOOL is also characterized by its regional origin, as well as its sustainable production and processing.

PERTEX® QUANTUM
We use Pertex® Quantum as the outer material for all our SWISSWOOL LIGHT and SWISSWOOL LIGHT TEC products. Pertex® Quantum uses a particularly tightly woven structure, which results in an extremely windproof and abrasion-resistant material. At the same time the material is soft and light.

5 out of 5 for this product! This is an outstanding vest with functional features that perform well in a variety of activities and temperatures. One of the most notable elements that makes this vest stand out relates to the impressive warmth to weight ratio. Lightweight, form fitting, make this vest ideal for layering, packing into touring backpacks, and fit's nicely under lightweight shells. Large, functional vertical pockets with longer zippers accommodate spring gloves, beanie, and plenty of room for various items, while serving as climate control. When only wearing the vest for activities, the extra space comes in handy. The hood is an added bonus when the weather/wind adds variety during adventures, and the technical design of fabric, insulation allow for effective heat transmission during high output activities. This items goes on every adventure, workout, and is true to sizing - size medium (I'm 6ft / 160lbs). Zippers are bomber, and fabric is also windproof and durable.

This vest is amazing. it's hot a heavy/warm as the SWISSWOOL PIZ CARTAS VEST, but has become my go to insulated vest. Whether over a long sleeved t-shirt or one of my fleece jackets, this best is a great weight for either insulation or high exertion activities. It's so nice that after getting mine, my wife wanted one of her own. This is my favorite insulated vest I've ever owned. (and I've owned too many for my own good). Ortovox nailed this one once again.
