LIGHTWEIGHT INSULATION FOR FREERIDERS

Lightweight insulated jacket as an additional layer for freeriding on particularly cold days

Highlights

  • Low weight with good insulation
  • Great freedom of movement
  • Super sustainable

TURN UP THE HEAT on even the speediest of couloirs with the Swisswool PIZ BADUS JACKET for men!

The outer layer of the lightweight insulated jacket is made of quilted, elastic, breathable, and wind-resistant TEC STRETCH material, while a 70 g/m2 lightweight, functional Swisswool lining on the inside keeps you warm without restricting your freedom of movement. The HIGH-REACH-PERFORMANCE FIT with ergonomic sleeve shape and side inserts made of elastic MERINO FLEECE ensures an IDEAL FIT FOR EVERY MOVEMENT, while the pre-adjusted hood offers additional protection.

The Swisswool PIZ BADUS JACKET for men also scores highly in terms of sustainability: recycled polyester is used in addition to wool. The insulated jacket is also completely PFC-FREE, CLIMATE-NEUTRAL and MADE IN EUROPE.

The Swisswool PIZ BADUS JACKET for men creates an EXCELLENT WEIGHT/INSULATION RATIO that really pays off when freeriding just as much as on fresh ski touring summits.

Swisswool

We have been using Swisswool– wool fibers from Switzerland – as insulation material since 2011. A sustainable wool of regional origin, it warms superbly even when wet, is easy to care for and offers a perfect microclimate.

Merino Inside

Our sustainable MERINO WOOL comes from monitored, ethical sheep farms. It is comfortably soft, easy to care for, and provides an optimum body climate thanks to its moisture- and temperature-regulating properties.

I bought this jacket a year ago and have worn it quite a bit. It is a nice weight and reasonably flexible. The lower snap closed pockets are useful as hand warmers but are not secure and are too low to wear easily with a pack. The woolen side panels have started to pill significantly. I do wish the hem had a cord adjustment rather than the elastic. As it is, it doesn't seal very tight against the cold. I bought this jacket a year ago and have worn it quite a bit. Hello! Hello! Superb insulating jacket, both in lightness and aesthetics. Black zippers (so less "sportswear" than the others, more easily usable on a daily basis), featherweight, super well cut... Please note there are 2 models of the Piz Badus (and that is not written in the product sheet ): - 1 model with zipped chest pocket, and with 2 snap button side pockets - 1 model without chest pocket, and with 2 zipped side pockets, 2 slightly different uses, but which can impact storage ( and therefore think carefully about the presence or not of a chest pocket on the hardshell which will eventually come on top). I hesitated between the Piz Zinal (but too thick with a hardshell on top. Take the size if the hardshell is underneath, and one size smaller if it's the opposite) or the Westalpen which I technically found at the top, but too sportswear for my tastes.

This jacket is stylish and comfortable—very comfortable. Its warm (at least for temperatures not going under 5C; I have not worn it for some colder temperatures). I am 195 cm and 110 kg and had to go with XXL (fits perfect). As for the material quality, I can't tell since I had it for less than a year, but so far still looks like new. I personally don't see this jacket as some robust, highly durable outdoor jacket. I wear it for my daily activities-streetwear, cycling, and montenering (mostly around the camp).
